Aintree International Equestrian Centre will be running a four-day international show jumping event from Thursday 17th October to Sunday 20th October, which will be free for members of the general public to attend.
The Centre, based in the grounds of Aintree Racecourse, the home of The Crabbie’s Grand National, has designed the event to attract international show jumpers, with many Olympic riders, including Ben Maher who won team gold at London 2012, expected to attend the show.
In a unique opportunity to watch high level show-jumping at this inspiring location, all admission is free and will give visitors the chance to watch up to 150 horses jumping throughout each day, promising a real spectacle and a great family day out.
With the height of Olympic show jumps measuring at around 1.60 metres, the classes that Aintree will host sees the top classes at 1.40 metres, which is expected to attract the highest level of international show jumpers. The show starts at 9am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will run all day with grandstand seating and catering concessions on hand in the Centre.
The fun culminates in a ‘Grand Prix’ on Sunday, where the top horses from the event will compete to be the ultimate winner.
Local show-jumper, Jo McGlory, 33, from Lydiate, spoke of her feelings about attending the event:
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Aintree for what’s going to be a very exciting show jumping event. It’s an inspiring location and it’s going to be a great few days, not just for the riders but for the people watching too – it’s always special to watch this level of jumping and will be a great free family day out.”
No tickets are required for this free entry event and free parking will be available at the racecourse. For more information, please go to www.aintreeequestriancentre.co.uk or call the Equestrian Centre on 0151 522 2949.
